Master the skills and systems that improve reliability
The reliability of rotating machinery begins with precision maintenance skills. Precision lubrication, shaft alignment, and rotor balancing ensure the machine operates smoothly with minimal rotating forces and friction. The shafts, bearings, gears, seals, impellers, and all other components will achieve their design lifetime when they are not subjected to excess rotating forces.
There are three key ingredients:
- You must have a reliability strategy, including planning and scheduling, to ensure the precision maintenance tasks are performed correctly. Our Asset Reliability Transformation® [ART] strategy will help you put the systems in place, and our Asset Reliability Practitioner® [ARP] training will educate you to execute the strategy correctly.
- You must have people who are motivated to contribute to the strategy and perform the tasks correctly. No amount of technical training and specialist skills can overcome apathy. Everyone must be on the same wavelength, and iLearnReliability™ will educate, motivate, and align the workforce.
- You must have skilled maintenance technicians who know what to do and why to do it.
We have five ways to gain the necessary skills:
The beauty of our courses and e-learning products is that they combine practical skills with advanced training techniques. Our 3D animations and software simulators make it extremely easy for everyone to understand exactly what they should do, and why they should do it.
Beware of “easy to use” products
In the modern era, shaft alignment tools, rotor balancing systems, and other products have become very graphical and much easier to use. The problem is, the fact that they seem easier to use can fool people into believing training is unnecessary. “Just follow the steps, you’ll be right” is what is frequently said, and if everything goes smoothly, you may achieve good results.
But how often do things go smoothly?
A lot of people who use these tools are intimidated by the high-tech user-interface. And many people don’t truly understand what they are doing, so the moment the task becomes a little challenging, they lose their way. The simplest thing to do is to simply wrap up the job and call it done.
And that’s why so many machines suffer premature failures – they were never precision aligned, lubricated, or balanced in the first place.
Our training ensures that the technician knows exactly what’s going on. When they see the measurements change they can visualize in their minds what the machine is doing.
